Recommendations for teachers and students
Recommendations for teachers on the adaptation of fifth graders.
Almost any teacher will say that the beginning of the fifth grade is a difficult period, not only for the child, but also for teachers and parents. There are many problems, and they are not limited to the framework of the educational process, but are also related to the organization of life at school as a whole. And although each school is a complex and peculiar "organism", many of the difficulties experienced by students during this period are similar. So, in most cases, fifth graders themselves indicate that it has become more difficult at school because:
• there are a lot of different teachers (you need to remember them, get used to the requirements of each);
• unusual schedule (new mode);
• many new classrooms that are not known how they are located (or even a new high school building);
• new kids in the class (or myself in a new class);
• New homeroom teacher;
• in high school, we are the smallest again, and in elementary school we were already big;
• problems with high school students (for example, in the buffet or in the toilet room).
For a modern fifth grader who comes to school on the first of September, everything often turns out to be new: teachers, sometimes classmates, and even subject-based learning. The success of a younger teenager's adaptation depends not only on intellectual readiness, but also on how well he is able to establish relationships and communicate with classmates and teachers, comply with school rules, and navigate new situations.
Among the difficulties of fifth graders' school life, parental questionnaires most often indicate:
• increased pace of work: children who cannot write quickly do not have time to take notes;
• increased amount of work, both in the classroom and at home;
• new, unusual requirements for the design of works;
• the need to independently find additional literature and work with it.
This is a special problem during the period of adaptation of "fifth graders" to school life, when the child's desire to fulfill all the requirements imposed by the school well, to show himself at his best, encourages him to be highly active. A serious problem for a fifth grader is also the change of the class teacher. After all, when moving from junior to secondary school, children especially need to establish adequate relationships with teachers. The adoption of classroom and school social and ethical norms, the formation of the ability to comply with them occurs in children also with the help of a classroom teacher. Some children have difficulties in organizing school life, often the children are simply not well informed: they do not know the requirements of teachers, they are not very well oriented in the school building. In this case, the support of the class teacher is also very important for them. The competence of the class teacher in matters of class life, his emotional attitude to students, to his duties, the ability to establish contact and communicate with children is one of the main conditions for the successful adaptation of children.
Problems of habituation and adaptation inevitably arise in children (to one degree or another) in the first months of education, both in elementary, middle, and high school. Each such transition period has its own specifics, primarily related to the psychological peculiarity of age.
Recommendations for subject teachers
• Take into account the difficulties of the adaptation period, the age characteristics of the fifth grader in choosing the method of presentation of the material, terminology.
• Keep in mind that a high pace is one of the reasons that prevents fifth graders from learning the material.
• To offer students more rational ways of doing homework, to familiarize parents with these ways, to take time in class to explain homework.
• Do not forget that only the joint activity of the teacher and the student is the most effective way to transfer experience and knowledge. Try to take a position "above" schoolchildren as little as possible and suppress their initiative.
• Encourage children in full view of the whole class. To be able to find something special in each student's answers.
• Create an environment of success.
• When finishing a lesson, do not miss the opportunity to cheer up those who are still unsure of themselves and inactive, afraid of new teachers in front of the class.
• Work in contact with the student's family, the class teacher, the school psychologist and the primary school teacher.
• Establish emotional contact with the class.

on the successful adaptation of tenth grade students
on the successful adaptation of tenth grade students
It is in your power to help adult children – students of the 10th grade easily adapt to the last stage of education in a comprehensive school
The first months of high school become a period of adaptation to new conditions and acquiring status among peers. It is necessary that adults see how important the problem of joining a new team is for an older teenager, and provide him with psychological support.
In the tenth grade, there is a sharp change in the criteria for assessing students' knowledge, the requirements of teachers increase, the material being studied becomes more complicated. Therefore, you should be prepared for the fact that a student who had excellent grades in high school may become an average or even weak student.
Poor grades (from the point of view of the student himself) can lead not only to a decrease in self-esteem, but also to changes in the child's behavior: he can become depressed and withdrawn or, conversely, angry and aggressive. It is in your power to help him cope with learning difficulties. To do this, first of all it is necessary to find out exactly what difficulties he faced.
It is necessary to analyze their mistakes together with the students, formulate new parameters for assessing academic performance, clarify what conditions written and oral works, abstracts, and reports should meet. If necessary, conduct individual consultations.
A problem that often occurs in the tenth grade is a pronounced desire to relax after a stressful ninth grade and before the eleventh grade graduation. Of course, schoolchildren need a break. However, there is a great danger that a thoroughly "relaxed" child may lose not only working tone, but also precious time to prepare for final exams. It is necessary to explain to boys and girls, giving reasonable and reasoned requirements, that studying in the 10th grade is the beginning of actions in building their professional future.
ADAPTATION OF 10TH GRADE STUDENTS
At the beginning of training in specialized classes, tenth graders may experience cases of maladaptation. Its causes are a change in the social environment and the system of activity of students.
Specialized training involves in-depth study of one or more subjects, special courses corresponding to the chosen profile and providing pre-professional training. The success of adaptation is interrelated with the nature of professional intentions: those students whose learning profile coincides with professional intentions adapt better.
It is necessary to build the educational process so that students accept specialized training as a serious step towards a future type of activity.
RECOMMENDATIONS to teachers and parents
The basic needs of adolescents:
Self-affirmation among peers
Self-realization in communication
Development of independence and self-reliance
The desire to change impressions and the search for thrills
Self-knowledge, self-development and self-improvement
The achievement of personal well-being and the acquisition of material benefits.
The main problems of teenagers:
Difficulties in friendship and love
Relationships with parents and other adults ("they do not allow, do not let go, do not understand, do not give, force," etc.)
Problems of self-esteem and character development (dissatisfaction with oneself, one's appearance and behavior)
A feeling of overload, fatigue (inability to control desires and organize one's time, inability to study; physical ailments, related to the restructuring of the body)
Problems with studies (decreased academic performance, unwillingness to study)
Choosing a life path (where to continue studying, choosing a profession)
Leisure activities.
Helping a teenager:
Unconditional acceptance of a teenager, which manifests itself in understanding and a positive attitude. A teenager should be sure that he is loved regardless of successes and failures, and not compared with others;
The relationship should be natural, the feelings genuine and the reactions to the feelings of the child sincere;
When addressing a teenager, you should use polite requests, avoiding orders and direct instructions;
You need to treat a teenager like an adult, consult with him, listen to his opinion, especially when it comes to his needs or his future;
If trouble happens, it is necessary to deal with it together, having carefully listened to the teenager;
The punishment must correspond to the severity of the offense and not cause physical harm. The teenager needs to be explained why he is being punished, and in case of unfair censure, parents should have the courage to apologize to the child.
