Unified national testing

UNT 2023: what changes and how exactly will it be handed over?
The UNT in 2023, as well as last year, will be taken only by those who have decided to continue their education at universities in Kazakhstan. If a school graduate has decided not to enroll in an institute or university or wants to study abroad and enroll in some university abroad, then he may not take the UNT.
The UNT remains as an exam for admission to universities and as a system for distributing state grants.
According to the format of the UNT 2023, 120 questions are offered in 5 subjects, of which 3 are mandatory and 2 are specialized, depending on those specialties in universities that the applicant plans to enroll in. All questions are taken into account.
In order to ensure academic integrity, the principle of "1 computer – 2 cameras – 1 test subject" is maintained. And during the testing itself, a calculator, a periodic table and solubility of salts will be available on computer screens. And after the completion of the UNT, an individual thematic analysis will be available, which will allow applicants to understand the level of assimilation of knowledge"
The testing time is 4 hours (240 minutes). There will also be an additional 40 minutes for children with special educational needs. The passing score of 50 remains unchanged. All 175 university specialties are divided into 10 combinations in the context of specialized subjects. The graduate will have to choose the profile subjects himself to determine the specialty to which he will enroll. (For example, when passing mathematics + physics, the applicant has the opportunity to choose from 52 specialties).
They will also introduce changes to the structure of UNT tasks:
they will reduce the number of options in test tasks with one correct answer from five to four;
in test tasks with one or more correct answers (no more than three correct answers), the number of options will be reduced from eight to six.

Separately, there is a creative exam, which is profiling in some specialties (for example, journalism).
The UNT in profile subjects involves 2 blocks of 30 tasks. 20 of them are tests with a choice of 1 answer out of 5, 10 more tasks are also tests, but you will need to choose several correct answers from those that will be offered.
As it is not difficult to count, there will be 120 tasks in total. It will take 3.5 hours to complete all the tests.
The passing score for the UNT 2022 remains the same – 50 points.
The maximum score that can be obtained by doing everything correctly is 140 (2 points are given for tasks with multiple answer options).
Those who disagree with the results of the UNT have the opportunity to appeal until one o'clock the next day. In addition, this year graduates who have not passed the threshold level will be able to take the tests again.
An applicant who has not scored a passing grade will be able to retake the UNT in August 2022 or in January 2023. In this case, the testing will be paid (the cost of retaking the UNT is 2242 tenge).
