The program of study in grades 5-9

Explanatory note
to the working curriculum of basic secondary education for grades 5-9 with the Russian language of instruction
KSU "Secondary School No. 4 of the Department of Education of the city of Kostanay" of the Department of Education of the Akimat of Kostanay region for the 2024-2025 academic year

Due to changes in regulatory documents, the working curriculum for grades 5-9 has been developed on the basis of the following regulatory documents:

– Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 23, 2022 No. 406 "On Amendments to the Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 3, 2022 No. 348 "On Approval of State mandatory standards of preschool education and training, primary, basic secondary and general secondary, technical and vocational, post-secondary education";
– Order "On Approval of standard curricula for primary, Basic secondary, and General Secondary Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (Order of the Acting Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 18, 2023 No. 264. Registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 22, 2023 No. 33316 On Amendments and Additions to the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 8, 2012 No. 500 "On Approval of standard curricula for primary, basic secondary, and general secondary education in the Republic of Kazakhstan";
– Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 16, 2022 No. 399 "On approval of standard curricula for general education subjects and elective courses for primary, basic secondary and General secondary education" and Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 21, 2022 No. 467 "On Amendments to the Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated On September 16, 2022, No. 399 "On Approval of Standard curricula for general education subjects and elective courses at the levels of primary, basic secondary and general secondary education";
– Order "On Approval of the Rules for the Development, coordination and approval of educational programs for teacher training courses" (Order No. 175 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 05/04/2020, as amended by Order No. 384 of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 08/27/2022);

– Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 22, 2020 No. 216 "On approval of the list of textbooks for secondary education organizations, educational and methodological complexes for preschool organizations, secondary education organizations, including in electronic form" (as amended by the order of the Acting Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 22, 2023 year No. 140, as amended by the Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 07/03/2023 No. 194)

The scope of the curriculum for grades 5-9 is implemented within the academic load of the invariant and variable parts of the standard curriculum.
The standard part of the educational content is concentrated in the invariant learning load. The total volume of organized learning activities for students in grades 5-9 is:
5th grade: 29 hours of the invariant component, 0.5 hours of the variable component (Global Competencies)
Grade 6: 29 hours of invariant component, 0.5 hours of variable component (Global Competencies)
Grade 7: 32 hours of invariant component, 0.5 hours of variable component (Global Competencies)
Grade 8: 33 hours of invariant component, 0.5 hours of variable component (Global Competencies)
9th grade: 34 hours of invariant component, 1 hour of variable component (Global Competencies)
Educational fields and academic subjects of the invariant component of the educational content are mandatory.
The basic content of each educational area of basic secondary education is determined taking into account the need not only to teach the basics of science, but also to ensure the further development of spirituality, social and cultural experience, which will contribute to effective socialization.
The content of the educational field "Language and Literature" is implemented in academic subjects:
Russians Russian language", "Russian literature" for classes with the Russian language of instruction;
2) "Kazakh language and literature" for classes with a non-Kazakh language of instruction;
3) "Foreign language".
The content of the educational field "Mathematics and Computer Science" is implemented in the subjects "Mathematics", "Algebra", "Geometry", "Computer Science".
The content of the educational field "Natural Sciences" is implemented in the subjects "Natural Sciences", "Physics", "Chemistry", "Biology", "Geography".
The content of the subjects of the educational field "Man and society" is implemented in the subjects "History of Kazakhstan", "World History", "Fundamentals of Law".
In grades 5,6,7 of basic secondary education, the materials of the course "Local History" will be integrated into the content of the subject "History of Kazakhstan".
The content of the educational field "Technology and art" is implemented in the subjects "Music", "Artistic labor".
The content of the educational field "Physical culture" is implemented in the academic subject "Physical culture". The teaching of the subject "Physical culture" is carried out without division into groups.
The content of the training course "Fundamentals of life safety" in grades 5-9 is implemented as part of the training course "Physical Education" with an annual training load of 15 hours by physical education teachers.
The division of the class into two groups is carried out in urban general education organizations when classes of 24 or more students are filled according to:
1) Kazakh language and literature – in classes with a non-Kazakh language of instruction;
2) a foreign language;
3) artistic work;
4) computer science.
In educational organizations, it is allowed to divide a class into two groups for artistic work, regardless of whether the class is filled with boys and girls.
In order to implement the updating of the educational content and the development of functional literacy of schoolchildren, the variable component of the working curriculum includes the course "Global Competencies".
The programs of the variable component were coordinated with the Board of Trustees, reviewed and approved by the Pedagogical Council of the school, Protocol No. 1 dated August 30, 2024.
The Global Competencies course promotes the formation of students' value orientations, communication skills, ethical norms and behavioral attitudes necessary to determine their place in the world.
The workload of the Standard Curriculum of the Global Competencies course is
0.5 hours (once every two weeks) in grades 5-8, 17 hours per academic year.
9th grade – 1 hour per week, 34 hours per academic year
The 0.5-hour course is conducted once every two weeks.
The purpose of the course is to form a competitive personality with the competencies of global citizenship.
Course objectives:
1) to familiarize students with the global challenges of our time;
2) to form a culture of sustainable personal development;
3) develop students' analytical and evaluative understanding of local, regional, national, and global events, causes, and their consequences;
4) to educate in an atmosphere of empathy for the needs and rights of others;
5) Develop meaningful and creative learning skills.
In grades 5-8, the course includes five units:
– "Integrity and ethics",
– "Citizenship and patriotism",
– "Media literacy and financial literacy",
– "Life safety",
– "Environmental culture",
in the 9th grade the unit "Secularism and religious studies" is additionally included.
A variety of unit themes are offered for each class, indicating the number of hours and expected results. The proposed course topics have been developed taking into account the age characteristics of students in grades 5-9. As a result of completing the Global Competencies course, students will have the value orientations, communication skills, ethical standards, and behavioral attitudes that characterize them as a successful person.
The course program includes six sections, developed taking into account the age characteristics and interests of students.
The unit "Integrity and Ethics" promotes the development of students' personal qualities such as ethics, benevolence, honesty, tolerance, responsibility for their actions, the ability to work in a team and representing high standards of cultural behavior.
